Lee County REALTORS® are committed to serving the needs of our community. Listed below are Community Service projects the Lee County Association of REALTORS® has committed to in 2008. For More information regarding these projects please contact the Lee County Association of REALTORS®.
Clothe-A-Child of Lee County is solely dependent on voluntary contributions from the community and has been under the direct supervision by the Lee County Department of Human Resources since 1981. This program provides back-to-school clothes, coats and shoes to children.
The Food Bank of East Alabama is a not-for-profit distribution center working to feed hungry people. The Food Bank is committed to efficiently distributing donated and purchased food through qualified agencies such as soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries. The Food Bank feeds the elderly, disabled, working poor, unemployed, homeless people, and children.
Mercy Medical is a nonprofit medical and dental clinic that was started in 2000 by a local emergency room doctor. This service provides quality, compassionate care to the thousands of medically underserved of Lee County, AL. Local physicians, dentists and other volunteers give up their own time on a rotating basis to serve those who have no insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. Medications, management of chronic health problems as well as referrals to specialists and testing facilities are provided for qualified patients who have no other access to medical care. Mercy Medical is funded entirely by the generosity of members of the local business community and individuals who see the great and ongoing need of these folks – our neighbors. The permanent staff consists of a minimum of part time personnel so that all donations may be used to accomplish this mission. (No federal or state funding is provided.)
The Opelika Women's Shelter is committed to eliminating domestic violence in the lives of women and children through direct services such as support groups, counseling, emergency shelter and court advocacy.
Rebuilding Together is a one-day annual event when local organizations, including Lee County REALTORS®, team up to give a helping hand. Volunteer's repair homes of families who are elderly, disabled and low income. Both skilled and unskilled labors get involved in this one day event. Rebuilding Together is a nation-wide program.
